Should we place nodes from 2 physical DCs in the same rack?

[FOLLOW UP QUESTION TO #8601]

Lets say we have 2 datacenters. host1 in housed in DataCenter1 and host2 in DataCenter2.

Our datacenters are 30 miles apart...

If we want to put 2 nodes per data centers,should we keep single node in single rack? because if in datacenter we keep both nodes in single rack,Rack failure would have same effect as datacenter failure

I would not advise placing nodes from two different physical DCs in the same Cassandra DC.

Also, our general recommendation is to have the same number of racks in a DC as there are replicas. Since we recommend a replication factor of 3 in each DC, you should have 3 racks in each DC. If you only have 2 racks, the data distribution will not be balanced and some nodes will have more data than others. Cheers!
