To whom this may concern,
We have truncated, compacted, ran gc collection, repaired, drained, flushed, cleanedup on a specific table within our cassandra cluster. But the number of tombstones do not seem to go down. LCM is also reporting the same tombstone count under one of the best practice rules.
Do not understand why the number of tombstones are not reducing
You haven't provided any actionable information for us to be able to assist you in a meaningful manner.
Note that tombstones won't get purged until GC grace has passed which by default is 10 days (gc_grace_seconds = 864000). However, this isn't relevant if you've correctly truncated the table because all the data would have been removed.
I've noted that you are using LCM which only works on DataStax Enterprise clusters which implies that you have a current and valid DSE subscription. If so, please log a ticket with DataStax Support and attach a Diagnostics Report from OpsCenter to the ticket so one of our engineers can assist you directly. Cheers!
