Is there recommendation for running DSE on Intel hardware?

We had our DSE running on Cisco UCS M4 & M5 servers and moving towards changing the hardware to Intel based servers, thought of checking whether any specific hardware recommendations are available from DataStax related to Intel hardware as I saw in DataStax blog and website about working with Intel closely and also some benchmarking data related to Intel Optane technology is published, but it doesn't give any hint on the Specs used, Since we are planning to use the Intel hardware which may or may not come with Optane tech, thought of checking whether any recommendation can be given.

@jayachandran.radhakrishnan1_183130 There are no specific recommendations for hardware architectures, just hardware configurations. For example, our general recommendations are to run DSE on servers with the following configuration in production:

  • 16-core CPU processors
  • 60-64 GB of RAM
  • around 1 TB of SSDs (NVMe disks preferably)

For more info, see Capacity planning and hardware selection for DSE. Cheers!
