Version 2.15 of the C++ driver added support for alpha releases of Cassandra 4.0 in 2020 (CPP-890).

The latest C++ driver 2.16 provides full support for Cassandra 4.0. Cheers!

One minor addendum to the otherwise excellent answer provided by @Erick Ramirez . The most recent version of the cpp-driver is actually 2.16.2. You'll probably want to upgrade to that rather than 2.16 in order to get a few extra bug fixes.

2.16.1 and 2.16.2 were missing from the releases listed on the Github page. This has now been corrected.
