Does OpsCenter support backing up to GCS and Alibaba OSS?

Hello, we have a DSE cluster with 2 DC one on GCP and the other DC on Alibaba Cloud.

We need to configure a cluster backup via Opscenter in order to backup the cluster on cloud storage for GCP and on OSS for Alibaba Cloud.

Is there the possibility to achieve this with Opscenter?

Thank's in Advance Salah

Hi, OpsCenter does have the ability to backup two different DC's to two different locations in the latest 6.8.16 release. When you're scheduling or running the backup, you will be able to choose a Datacenter. You can refer here:

https://docs.datastax.com/en/opscenter/6.8/opsc/online_help/services/opscSchedulingBackup_t.html

@bensmail, we're not aware of your DataStax Enterprise (DSE) or OpsCenter versions based on your original question description.

Alternatively, you could leverage the DSE Server Side Backup and Restore feature available in DSE versions 6.8 or higher to achieve backing up to Google Cloud Storage. Please refer to the documentation for additional info.

Other Resources:

  1. DSE Release Notes
  2. OpsCenter Release Notes
  3. Supported OpsCenter Backup Locations

I also suggest you log a DataStax Support ticket (requires a current subscription account) so one of our engineers can assist you. Thanks!

The OpsCenter Backup Service allows backups to be uploaded to S3-compatible locations from public cloud providers and private clouds provided they are compliant with S3-compatible APIs.

In order to configure S3-compatible backup locations, you will need to specify an S3 endpoint and an S3 bucket. It is important to note that we do not exhaustively test usage with all the public cloud providers so we cannot guarantee that their cloud storage is fully compliant.

For details, see Adding an Amazon S3 or S3-compatible backup location. If you run into issues with GCS or Alibaba OSS, please log a ticket with DataStax Support. Cheers!
