"No nodes present in the cluster" in step 9 of DS201 Exercise 7

I am getting below error, when i try to check the status from Node1 after starting Node2 as a part of DS201 EXCERISE-7 step number 9

As the error suggests, Cassandra is not running so it can't connect to it.

It looks like you've got your own setup so you will need to review the steps you took to get here and check that you haven't missed any step in the instructions.

You will also need to review the Cassandra logs to determine why it is not running. The logs are typically located in /var/log/cassandra. Cheers!

I have followed the same sequence in the given exercise.

  • updated the Cassandra.yaml in both node1 and node2.
  • started the node1 and it is successful.
  • Then started the node2 and it is also successful.
  • After second node started, when we check the nodetool status on node1 , its throwing the above error.(error: No nodes present in the cluster. Has this node finished starting up?) .
  • Node2 , nodetool status looks fine.
