What is cell count on nodetool tablehistograms?

Is cell count the number of records in the table?

Is this an average?

{ {Cell count}} is the estimated number of columns in each percentile for a table that was recorded for reads and writes in the last 15 minutes. The estimate is calculated based on the standard deviation from the mean number of columns read/written in the last 15 minutes. Cheers!
