Monitoring DSEFS

Does anyone know if there's a way to monitor dsefs to known when it's not available on a node?

what do you mean "not available on a node"? there is no dse fs command?

You can get information about DSEFS different ways:

  1. via JMX, by querying one of the beans, like this: com.datastax.bdp:type=dsefs,class=RestServerMetrics,scope="127.0.0.1:5598",metric=connectionCount
  2. By calling WebHDFS REST API to get status of the root directory, for example. Like this: curl 'http://localhost:5598/webhdfs/v1/?op=GETFILESTATUS' and checking exit status
