How to use shard routing with Solr HTTP API in DSE Search

We were forced to use the Solr HTTP api to get search highlighting which is not supported by the DSE Search integration.

Is there any way for us to implement shard query routing when hitting the Solr http api?

From what I understand I would need to find the node mapped to the target partition key (which I have no idea how to do with CQL) and then issue the Solr request to that node. Even then, there's no guarantee Solr wont issue the request to all nodes in the cluster.

@emile.salem_166018 You're right, highlighting is not supported in DSE since it is a deprecated Solr/Lucene feature.

There is information here and here about shard routing in DSE although I doubt it will provide the info you need for what you're trying to achieve. Cheers!

@emile.salem_166018 not deprecated in Solr -- deprecated in DSE. As you already mentioned, Solr highlighting only works through the HTTP API which will eventually go away in future DSE releases. Cheers!
